About

Farm Dog

Farm Dog formed in 2005 when Jon Dember and DocWood (and now with Ian Reyes) began playing at the farmer’s market at Casey Farm in North Kingstown, RI. They have developed an energetic, toe tapping interpretation of traditional and original material with an old-timey feel (such as Zydeco Shuffle, Winky Dink Rag, Tuscan Surprise and Boogie Woogie Blues). In addition to farmer’s markets, they have played at festivals, concerts, fund raisers, and contra dances
Their music is organic because it is old timey and usually played without amplification or microphones. Jon plays the button accordion, DocWood plays the resonator guitar, banjo, and mandolin, Ian plays bass. Some of the venues they have played include the Starboard Galley, Cross’ Mills Public Library, South County Museum, Wildlife Rehabilitators Association, Briar Patch Music Festival, Sweet Berry Farm Summer Music Series, Aquidneck Farmer’s Market, Fisherman’s Memorial Farmer’s Market, Small Axe Café, Bridge Fest in Newport, Johnny Cake Festival, Gilbert Stuart Museum, and the Seaman’s Church Institute.
